The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has also stepped in the case of a killing of one of its engineers in Samar province.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon has personally offered a P100,000 reward for anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest of the primary suspect in the shooting of Engr. Karen Grace Corsino Del Valle.

Del Valle was shot dead in front of the Regional Trial Court in Catarman, Northern Samar, on March 2.

“We assure the victim’s family of the government’s assistance, including legal support to help speed up the case and bring justice to the slain engineer,” Dizon told reporters after he personally visited Del Valle's wake on his way to inspect ongoing road improvement and maintenance activities in Samar province.

The suspect was identified as Sgt. Jerome Lluz Tejero, her former live-in partner and an active member of the Philippine Army.

According to police reports, the shooting happened after the first hearing of a case she filed against him for violation of the Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

Tejero has since gone into hiding, while Northern Samar 1st District Representative Paul Daza also pledged another P100,000 as a reward for his arrest.
