Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista welcomed the appointment of Eric Jose Castro Ines, who was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as acting general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
Bautista said that Ines possesses the necessary qualifications for the role of MIAA chief due to his extensive experience in the airline industry and his adeptness in overseeing airport operations.
The DOTr official confirmed that he and Ines are already talking which the newly appointed official is scheduled to swear in on Wednesday or Thursday next week.
The new MIAA chief was a senior security officer of Gulf Air in Manila and in Southeast Asia from January 1, 1988 to June 30, 1997.
He was airport station manager for Gulf Air in Manila from July 1, 1997 to February 28, 2006, and for Etihad Airways from March 1, 2006 to December 31, 2017.
Bautista on Friday conducted a walkthrough inspection at Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), which aimed to ensure safe and efficient travel for air passengers in anticipation of the Christmas exodus.
