The Department of Tourism anticipates millions of international visitors by the end of 2022, increasing tourism revenue.
With visitor arrivals already hitting 2,025,421 as of November 14, the Department of Tourism said it expects tourist arrivals to hit 2.4 million by the end of the year, or an additional 400,000 between now and December 31.
Tourism Secretary Maria Esperanza Christina Frasco told Teleradyo that by the DOT’s projection, the department is hoping that arrivals would reach 2.4 million by the end of this year.
To realize this projection, the DOT is stepping up its efforts to promote the Philippines to the rest of the world, Inquirer reported.
DOT reported that there are 2,025,421 visitor arrivals in the country as of November 14. Foreign tourists accounted for 1,487,343 or 73.43 percent while overseas Filipinos accounted for 538,078 or 26.57 percent.
This translates to around P100.7 billion worth of revenue in the tourism sector.
