Frozen Accounts
The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) caught the LCDe off guard with the issuance of resolutions freezing five bank accounts.
The said resolution applied to the accounts of all employees of LCDe, their family members and several suppliers where they have procured items for their activities.
“For 36 years (1988 until the present), LCDe has dedicated its work for the poor and vulnerable through Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) programs as well as emergency response.” executive director Jazmin Aguisanda Jerusalem said.
Funding Terrorists?
This act is believed to have stemmed from the “existence of probable course that LCDe and Jazmin Jerusalem are making available funds to the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP-NPA), a designated terrorist organization,” as the council claims.
"We have no where to go. Hinay hinay kami nira gin papatay and an makaluluoy is an amon volunteers who dedicated their live to our cause, what will happen to them now? And the communities we had also helped or promised to help. What will happen to them?"
As of this writing, the AMLC is yet to issue a statement on the case.
