The premiere night of the movie “Idol The April Boy Regino Story,” a film bio of the late iconic singer April Boy Regino, produced by Water Plus Productions directed by Efren Reyes, Jr. was a big hit.
It was attended by stars, big and small, of the entertainment industry.
Initially, it was meant to be held in New Frontier Theater in Cubao.
In our first interview with lady producer Marynette Gamboa, she was excited to hold the premiere night of the film at Kia Theater. “Sa Novotel lahat ng mga artista. Then, may red carpet sa New Frontier. Naka-limousine ang mga artista. Lahat nandoon ang mga TV station at mga print media, Tik Tok at ang mga (The stars will be billeted in the hotel. They will be carried by limousines to the theater. All TV stations will be there, print media people including) social media vloggers,” marynette excitedly planned.
It was altered, eventually. “Wala kasing available na place. Kaya dito sa Grand Duchess Hotel tayo. Mas bongga (There’s no available venue yet so we are here in the hotel. It’s more impressive),” opined Gamboa during our interview at the Grand Duchess Hotel.
The main cast were there excluding Tanya Gomez who plays the mom of April Boy’s mom Lucy. “Nasa Bulacan daw si Tanya. Hindi makakarating. Malaking eksena raw ang kinukunan. Baka may (Tanya is in Bulacan shooting a very big scene. There might be) blastings,” announced Efren onstage before the movie reeled off.
Dindo Arroyo, who breathes life to the dad of April Boy, was around.
Dindo approached as he lamented. “Inaalis ng mga kalaban sa pulitika ang mga poster ko sa Binan, Laguna. Grabe naman sila. Nakakalungkot. Bakit ganyan ang pulitika sa atin, siraan nang siraan, walanghiyaan nang walanghiyaan (My political enemies are removing my posters in Biñan City. They’re too much. It’s sad. Why is our politics like that, mudslinging, criticizing, doing evil ways against good people?),” declared Arroyo, who is running for councilor in the city.
His pre-election campaign paraphernalia have been illegally scrapped from strategic locations around the city, Dindo reported.
After he informed his predicament, Arroyo went up onstage with loveteam John Arcenas who portrays April Boy and Kate Yalung who essays Regino’s wife Madelyn.
Both John and Kate were fabulous and glamorous that night.
The premiere showing was attended by glitzy stars like Irene Celebe who plays the mom of Madelyn Regino, Jessica Pica, Levy Ignacio, Melissa Mendez, Jess Sanchez, Richard Duran, Jose “Kaka” Balagtas, Lynn Madrigal, Jethro Ramirez, Gerry Roman, Deborah Sun, among others.
“Idol The April Boy Regino Story” is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
