ILOILO CITY – Contingents from several renowned events gathered for the inaugural “ILOmination” light show as part of the Dinagyang Festival.

Pandang Gitab of Oriental Mindoro, Pavvurulun Afi Festival of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, Tanglawan Festival of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, Hermosa Festival of Zamboanga City, and Bailes de Luces Festival of La Castellana in Negros Occidental sent representatives Friday to highlight the festival's commitment to innovation and inclusivity.

“Each year, we push our boundaries to introduce even greater brilliance and innovation, ensuring our festivals not only shine but also embrace sustainability. We aspire to make it bigger and inclusive,” Allan Ryan Tan, president of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc., said.

“Hence, we extended our invitations to light festivals across the Philippines, allowing them to participate and showcase their unique culture here in the City of Love.”

Mayor Jerry Treñas said the Dinagyang has always been a symbol of unity, strong faith and rich heritage.

“The addition of ILOmination enhances this celebration, offering a unique experience as we commit to bringing joy, inspiration and a sense of wonder to everyone who joins us,” he said.

Beyond the competition, ILOmination trained the spotlights on the new business districts here, which served as performance areas.

The grand winner of ILOmination will be announced Sunday evening and will receive PHP500,000.

Dinagyang, celebrated every fourth Sunday of January, is one of several Philippine festivals in honor of Sto. Niño, the Child Jesus. (PNA)
