To ensure the well-being, safety and health oft schoolchildren and teachers, the Department of Education is adjusting the end of school year for 2023 to 2024 on May 31 and the beginning of School Year 2024- 2025 on July 29, 2024.
Vacation for the current school year will thus come early on June 1 to July 26 under DepEd Order No. 003 issued on February 19.
An earlier DepEd Order (No. 22 series of 2023) or the Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities for SY 2023-2024 placed the end of school year (EOSY)break from June 17 to August 25, which is superceded by DepEd Order No. 003 series of 2024.
The Third Quarter Examinations for the current school calendar will hence be on March 25 to 26 while the Fourth Quarter Exam will be on May 16 to 17, 2024.
DepEd also encouraged schools to conduct their respective EOSY Rites from May 29 to 31.
The DepEd said the adjustment is based on the “clamor to gradually revert to the school calendar to the pre-pandemic opening of classes.The beginning of SY 2024-2025 will thus be on July 29, 2024.
In DepEd Order No. 003 series of 2024 signed by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte dated Feb. 19, the agency announced that the End Of School Year (EOSY) break for School Year (SY) 2023-2024 was adjusted to June 1 to July 26, 2024.Based on DepEd Order No. 22 series of 2023 or the Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities for the SY 2023-2024, the EOSY break for this school year was originally scheduled from June 17 to August 25, 2024.
Due to this adjustment, DepEd instructed schools to adjust their activities accordingly.
