Denok Miranda named as head coach while Johnny Abarrientos will take over as the team consultant for FEU Tamaraws.

Another former FEU Tamaraw will be helming their alma mater’s men’s basketball team as Dennis "Denok" Miranda has been promoted to head coach after Olsen Racela's exit.

Serving as an assistant for Racela since 2018, Miranda is set to lead the embattled FEU team who missed the semis for the first time in eight years, finishing seventh in the standings.

"Far Eastern University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis 'Denok' Miranda as the new head coach of the FEU Tamaraws Men's Basketball Team," the school wrote on social media on Wednesday morning, reported PhilStar.
"Denok brings with him over 12 years of playing experience in the PBA and is a two-time UAAP champion. He has also been a head coach in the MPBL and has been an assistant coach for the Tamaraws since 2018." they added.

The two-time UAAP champion in the early 2000s went on to build a career in the PBA as the third overall pick in the 2005 PBA Draft, gathering another two chips in the pro league with stints in Coca-Cola, Sta. Lucia, San Miguel, and TNT, among others.

Miranda will be teaming up with another legendary Tamaraw in Johnny Abarrientos as he has been elevated from assistant coach to team consultant as reported by Spin.ph.

The remaining FEU Tamaraws with an intact core of LJay Gonzales, Cholo Anonuevo, Xyrus Torres, Patrick Sleat and Bryan Sajonia will be in good hands as their two mentors have the winning mentality instilled in them after playing for the same school in their collegiate careers.

The 40-year-old tactician will be the first former FEU player in a while to take on the head coach spot since Bert Flores, who took over the reins after another FEU legend, Glenn Capacio, left the team in 2010.
