In a competitive and substantive awarding of acting honors from the progressive critics group Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP), the 2025 Urian Best Actor and Best Actress plums were given to Dennis Trillo and Arisa Akano, respectively.

Trillo took home the award for his brilliant performance as a soon-to-be-released prisoner who was opposed by a jail guard (Ruru Madrid) in pursuit of poetic justice for killing his sister and niece in Zig Dulay's "Green Bones."

Akano brought home the bacon for her masterful portrayal of a half-Japanese sister who finally reconciled with her half-sibling (Gabbie Padilla) during the funeral wake for their father in Jaime Parcena II's "Kono Basho."

Arisa is in Japan during the award ceremonies but her co-star and fellow nominee Gabbie received the award for her.

Meanwhile, the Best Supporting Actor award was posthumously bestowed to Felipe Ganancial whose trophy was accepted by his daughter.

Felipe breathed life to a chieftain of the tribe who kept together his people in the impressive screen presentation of Indigenous Peoples’ (IP) lives in Richard Jeroul Salvadico and Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay's "Tumandok."

Stage actress Kakki Teodoro bagged the Best Supporting Actress for her compelling delineation as Nimia in Pepe Diokno's "Isang Himala."

Meanwhile, Pulang Langgam Media Production's "Alipato at Muog," a foray into the forcible disappearance of activist Jonas Burgos, snagged the Best Film award.

Salvadico and Sumagaysay won the nods of the Manunuris for Best Best Screenplay and Best Director/s for "Tumandok."
