LUCENA CITY, Quezon- Lt. Col. Richard De Castro was named the Commanding Officer of Global Simulation Capability (GSC), the Philippine Army’s (PA) Second Cavalry (Masigasig) Battalion in a change of command ceremony in Camp Guillermo Nakar last October 5.

He took over as commander from Lt. Col. Maria Victoria Blancaflor.

The Commander of the Armor (Pambato) Division, PA, Maj. Gen. Efren Baluyot, presided over the change of command ceremonies and thanked the uniformed service.

Baluyot said:

"The Second Cavalry Masigasig Battalion thanked the highly- skilled and talented people who have already done a lot to make sure there is peace and progress in the area of supported units."

He commended Blancaflor for being the best officer.

" I commend Blancaflor in leading her battalion for implementing a 'soft left hand approach' in the Joint Task Force Katagalugan in helping our government and reaching out to fellow Filipinos," Baluyot added.

Baluyot told the Masigasig troopers to keep helping the new commander in the same way.

Blancaflor served as the first female commander of the 2nd Cavalry Battalion, when she took the helm on September 1, 2021.
