Queen of Philippine movies, Susan Roces, died at 80. She was said to have had a heart attack. She has starred in over 130 movies and had been a mainstay in television series, the last of which was Ang Probinsiyano since 2015.
Newly-proclaimed Senator Rafael Tulfo has proposed a day of mourning and a national artist honor for the late Susan Roces (whose real name is Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe)), who died peacefully on Friday morning at the age of 80. She was said to have suffered from heart attack.
She was called the Queen of Philippine Movies having starred in more than 130 movies in her career. Her latest television series is Ang Probinsyano (since 2015).
She has only one child, Senator Grace Poe.
Tulfo, in a statement, said"Jocelyn, Ralph, my entire family, and I express to Senator Grace Poe our sincerest condolences on the passing of her mother, Susan Roces, beloved by all Filipinos.
Few celebrity icons are as loved as Ms. Susan Roces. Hindi mawawaglit sa alaala naming mga tagahanga niya ang kanyang di mabilang na mga pelikula, programang pang-telebisyon, at patalastas.
We ask President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a national day of mourning on the day of her burial.
Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo will file a House Resolution next week extolling Ms. Susan Roces' legacy and recommending her nomination for posthumous National Artist honors.

Similarly, Rep. Bernadette Herrera of Bagong Henerasyon Partylist said in her statement:
"Nakikiramay po ako kina Senator Grace Poe, sa lahat ng naulilang pamilya, kaibigan, at milyun-milyong tagahanga ni Ms. Susan Roces."
Ang mga pagganap ni Ms. Susan Roces bilang butihing ina, sa pelikula at telebisyon ang marahil pinakatatatak sa atin.
At maging sa totoong buhay, ang ehemplo niya ng pagiging mapagkupkop at mapag-aruga ang huwarang maaaring pamarisan ng bawat Pilipino.
Sa mahaba at maningning niyang karera at di matatawarang ambag sa sining ng pag-arte, karapat-dapat si Binibining Susan Roces na kilalanin bilang Pambansang Alagad ng Sining.
