Philippine country singer Coritha, Socorro Avelino in real life, recently kicked the bucket - and one of those who cried and grieved was controversial entertainment journalist Dave Rojo.

Dave, who just went to the US for a vacation, was shocked when the sad news of Coritha’s passing reached him.

Rojo instantly reminisced the good old days he spent with Coritha who popularized the hit songs “Sierra Madre,” “Oras Na,” “Lolo Jose” and a lot more.

According to the satiric movie writer, Coritha is one singer whom he cannot forget all his life.

’It's sad when someone you know becomes someone you knew’,” Rojo posted on his Facebook wall.

He said that the female folk singer was his talent as a publicist for one of Vicor Recording Company’s affiliates.

"As a Blackgold artist, Coritha had been one of those whose publicities I handled when I was doing music PR for most of the brightest recording stars during the early 80s (Basil Valdez, Rick Segretto, Gary Valenciano, Kuh Ledesma, Vernie Varga, Rey Valera, Hagibis, Dulce, etc.),” recalled Dave.

“This was before I moved to the US to become a graphic designer,” exclaimed Rojo.

“These days I'm completely retired, biding my time and getting shocked to hear those stars slowly go up in flames one by one,” he laments.

“Rest in peace, Coritha,” the movie reporter prayed.
