Two Kapamilya series have arrived in international air waves after premiering in Indonesia and Africa
“Darna,” a Mars Ravelo original fantasy series, has landed in a broadcasting network in Indonesia, fully dubbed in Bahasa, and aired its pilot in the country’s free-to-air TV network ANTV.
The pilot week, which featured Narda transforming into Darna, has piqued the interest of Indonesian television viewers as reported by the network.
Jane De Leon’s portrayal of one of the Philippines’ local superheroes has transcended regions as ANTV's Chief Program and Communications Officer Kiki Zulkarnain revealed how the story of Darna can be medium to inspire Indonesian audience and hopefully continue to stay as a regular program.
"We have always presented programs with a narrative closely associated with the daily lives of Indonesian people. As we begin the year, we present a new genre to our viewers that tell the story of the iconic Filipino heroine Darna, which also appeals to our younger audiences as she serves as a perfect role model for them," said Zulkarnain, reported ABS-CBN News.
He added that making an impact is one thing but for viewers to actually pick up the values that the characters in the program represent is another thing and equally as important.
"We hope it will not only entertain but instill values in the youth through her acts of kindness and bravery.”
Meanwhile, another Kapamilya drama has reached the shores of international waters as “Viral Scandal,” starring Charlie Dizon, Jake Cuenca, Joshua Garcia, and Dimples Romana, among others, has begun airing in Africa.
Fully dubbed in English, the drama series is currently being aired in 41 Sub-Saharan countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Seychelles, and Ivory Coast.
According to PhilStar, the show follows the unfortunate events that are being faced by the Sicat family after an explicit video of their eldest daughter Rica, played by Dizon, has been leaked which greatly traumatized the family to the point of destruction.
