The Department of Agrarian Reform held a program for Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations to increase agri-production.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) had organized a series of training for members of eight Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) to increase their agricultural productivity, which farmers in Zamboanga Sibugay are now applying their knowledge on natural farming technology.

On its website, DAR Zamboanga Sibugay Chief Mohammad Dassan Adju said this program is intended to encourage farmers to use organic farming, which would increase their agricultural production and guarantee higher yields.

“These ARBOs were already recipients of farm machinery and garden tools under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program, a government initiative addressing food security, hunger, and poverty problems through the synergy and convergence of essential services of the government agencies,” he said.

In addition to providing the farmers with training, the DAR also helps them market their produce by connecting them with other institutional partners, hospitals, and local government units (LGUs), and by establishing a marketing agreement to ensure a sustained and stable market for their produce.

He said the ARBOs also received organic compost, plastic mulch, and vegetable seeds for their plots throughout the training.

The training was attended by the following ARBOs: Silingan Rubber Farmers Association, JR GARCIA MPC, Patalon Estate Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, Latuan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, Small Water Impounding System Association, Buluan Agrarian Community Multipurpose Cooperative, and Tomitom Small Rubber Farmers Association.

About 240 farmer-beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) are expected to benefit from the said training.
