The Department of Agrarian Reform distributed gift packs including food and health kit supplies totaling ₱1,000 to 50 elderly farmers in the province of Quezon.

Regional Director Cupido Gerry Asuncion of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) CALABARZON acknowledged 50 senior citizen agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) for their contributions to the growth of the country.

“We are giving this tribute to our elderly farmers for their role in providing the Filipinos with food. At their age, they are still working in the fields for the country’s food supply,” said Asuncion.
“I believe that despite the limitations and obstacles caused by various circumstances like the pandemic, many senior citizens, especially elderly farmers, continue to work for their families, and contribute to their communities, and the country,” added Asuncion.

On the website of DAR, honorees are members of the Roxas Estate Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Each farmer-beneficiary received a ₱1,000 worth gift pack containing adult milk, a towel, a toothbrush, toothpaste, bath soap, alcohol, and biscuits, among others.

Senior citizen farmers should be praised for their contributions to the country's development, and it would be preferable if the DAR could provide beneficiaries with additional incentives and assistance.

The ceremony began with a delicious meal and proceeded with music, games, and dancing.

Elderly Filipino Week is observed in line with Proclamation No. 470, which highlights the important role of the elderly sector in the development of the country and in advocating for their rights and welfare.
