ANTIPOLO City – The local police formally filed criminal charges against a motorcycle taxi rider who confessed to killing his live-in partner out of jealousy.

Charged with murder is 31-year-old Roceller Santos Lanon of Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City, following his admission to killing 31-year-old marketing assistant Janiclear Eustaquio Cahilig. She was found lifeless on a grassy portion of Quarry Road in Binangonan.

Citing an affidavit signed by the suspect in front of a lawyer, Lanon said that his live-in partner insisted on breaking up following a heated argument. In an apparent bid to stop her from leaving him, the suspect hit his partner with an empty soft drinks bottle and strangled her to death.

He also allegedly admitted dumping the victim’s body into a cliff near a quarry area in the nearby Binangonan town.

The victim has two kids -- a 10-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl -- who are both in the custody of the victim’s siblings.
