SOON enough, residents of Rizal province no longer have to endure hours of traffic congestion in going to Metro Manila-based tertiary hospitals offering specialized medical care, as the much-awaited construction of the Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital (NTRH) in Barangay San Jose finally kicks off.

Rizal 2nd District Rep. Fidel Nograles, who filed House Bill No. 6524 seeking the hospital’s creation in March 2020, described the first national hospital in Rizal as the result of a concerted effort among government agencies.

Nina Ricci Ynares,”

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been delegated to undertake the construction of the hospital – with the supervision of the Department of Health (DOH).

Nograles admits he has had some doubt whether the project would push through after the government opted to realign funds intended to defray the cost of constructing the hospital, because of the pandemic.

Under the master plan, the NTRH is designed as a level 2 hospital with a capacity to accommodate 300 patients all at the same time. The hospital, he added, would be equipped with modern-day facilities and equipment like Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and High-Risk Pregnancy Unit for female patients.
