How do you transport altruism from an adoptive country in the diaspora to one’s homeland?

Let us count the ways.

One of them is through an outreach project.

Precisely the vehicle a concert producer in the United States of America took when he recently brought a health and wellness program to the Philippines.

Ramon Capanzana—a concert organizer of Pops Fernandez, Vina Morales, Kuh Ledesma, Gary Valenciano, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Apo Hiking Society and other visiting Filipino talents in Texas and a Registered Nurse (RN) in the US—is in town to formally to go on board his medico-socio-civic activity “Diabetes Educational Outreach Program” with the mantra, “Diabetes ay Iwasan, Kaalaman ay Dagdagan on March 14 at 8:30 am at the Magsaysay Barangay Multipurpose Hall in Lopez, Quezon.

Capanzana, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduate of the Quezon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing leads the grassroots diabetes orientation as Seminar Chairperson together with his fellow alumni at the QMHSN batch 1976.

Meanwhile, Seminar Speaker/Consultant of the event is Leyden V. Florido, an RN and a holder of Master of Arts in Nursing and a Certified Diabetic Educator.

Ramon added that, “…I would like to add that the collaborative efforts of QMHSN Batch ’76 and the Municipal Health Office of Lopez, Quezon including Barangay Magsaysay helps shape the success of this initiative…With special mention to Dr, Paolo Villafane, Municipal Health Officer.”

As an alumnus of the 1971 Lopez Provincial High School in Lopez, this writer together with fellow grad Nestor de la Rosa, also known in the digital world as Van Autor, were requested by Capanzana to recommend, at least, four (4) batchmates who might want to consult with him and Leyden and eventually benefit from the seminar.

Barangay Magsaysay councilwoman April Calvario Villasanta and 1971 LPHS former president Leovino Datario are assisting the program.
