For as one can remember, it’s been consecutive years since Ihman Basas Esturco, artist and Coco Martin’s ex-manager, has been coming home from the US where he is based to spend his birthday with no less than the actor.

This year, Ihman celebrated his birthday with Coco at their friend Alvin Fortuna’s Azadore Restaurant.

Martin came with his partner Julia Montes which made Esturco many times happier.

During the bash which was also attended by Ihman’s family and closest friends including actor-model Lauren Novero, the celebrator reminisced his and Coco’s early years as professional actor-talent manager team that landed in the making of Martin’s debut titular film “Masahista (The Masseur),” an internationally made project that made waves at the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival in 2005 directed by 2009 Palme d’Or winner Brillante Ma. Mendoza.

In his Facebook wall, Esturco recalled his shared experiences with Coco.

“Looking back, it’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since I helped launch Coco in his debut film, ‘Masahista.’ The journey leading to that moment was anything but easy. We faced so many struggles—challenges that would have made it easier to give up. But we held on, driven by hard work, unwavering faith, and a belief that everything is possible with dedication and commitment. Together, we remained professional and focused on our goals, no matter how tough the road seemed,” wrote Ihman.

All their patience, tenacity and hard work paid off when “Masahista” won global recognition not only in Switzerland but the whole wide world.

It gave Martin the big opportunities to prove his worth as an artist.

“Today, Coco stands as an icon and an inspiration in the film industry, proof that perseverance and passion can transform dreams into reality. He is a reminder to everyone that success is built not just on talent but on hard work, resilience, and integrity. He continues to inspire our kababayans not only in the Philippines but across the globe, making his journey even more meaningful,” added Esturco.

Ihman proudly stated that his recent birthday shindig is not just for him and Coco but for all Filipinos who were inspired by the actor’s success at home and in diaspora.

“This celebration wasn’t just about my birthday; it was about reflecting on shared struggles and successes, and appreciating the incredible people who have walked alongside me. Thank you for being a part of my story and for reminding me that every effort, no matter how hard, is always worth it,” elaborated Esturco.

He could only gratify the public with their headways.

“Maraming Salamat (Thanks a lot) and love you all!” exclaimed Ihman.

Meanwhile, Esturco recounted that last year, Coco surprised him with a birthday party on New Year’s Day with no less than, aside from the actor, internationally renowned filmmaker Dante Mendoza, actors Julio Diaz, Alan Paule, some of the major players of “Masahista” and the late Jaclyn Jose.

“I felt devastated learning that Jaclyn, our own Jane, died a few months later,” lamented Ihman.

Jaclyn kicked the bucket on March 2, 2024.
