Clark, Angeles City pay tribute to daughter Jaclyn Jose

It's not only the local entertainment industry, the whole Philippines but the international community as well are mourning the death of award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose who passed on due to myocardial infarction or a heart attack in the morning of March 2, 2024 as announced by her daughter Andi Eigenmann in a press conference on March 4, 2024.

Jaclyn, Mary Jane Guck in real life, was a celebrated and world renowned multimedia artist who had influenced diverse aesthetics in the arts and their allied fields.

The prestigious and A-lister Cannes International Film Festival in Cannes, France in its website gave Jaclyn a fitting tribute as the 2016 Palme d'Or Best Actress for her moving portrayal as a small-time drug dealer.

Jose wasn't only a film and television actress but a theater person as well when she did various stage performances for the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Tanghalang Pilipino (TP) productions like "Salome," a Tagalog translation of Oscar Wilde's "Salome" and "Santa Juana," a translation in the vernacular of Jean Anouilh's "The Lark."

In these two plays, actor, writer, director and teacher Glen Sevilla Mas was with Jaclyn and he quite remembers her thespic extraordinariness

"I am in shock...Rest in peace, dearest Jane. We will miss your brilliance on stage and on screen," said Glen, an Ilonggo playwright and a literary giant.

Jane was born in Clark Air Base in Angeles City to her Filipina mother Rosalinda Sta. Ana and American serviceman father who split with Linda when Jane was only four years old.

Later, Linda tagged Jane and her other kids to Manila to start a new life.

At the moment, there are Pampangos who are grieving for the demise of their kababayan.

"Magaling na aktres si Jaclyn Jose. Napapanood at naririnig ko na ang kanyang pangalan noon pa sa mga kaibigan kong taga-showbiz. Sayang (She was a good actress. I saw her in films and heard good things about her from my showbiz friends. She's a loss in the movie industry)," lamented Odilon Patawaran of Angeles City.
"Show business will never be the same again without Jaclyn Jose," quipped Gil Gomez of Angeles City.
"Masanting siya at magaling (She's beautiful and a good actress," said Malou David of San Fernando City.
