A claimant is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after picking up a package with illegal substances at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on Monday, March 25

Joseph Acogido of Quezon City was detained by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during the confiscation of a 3,000-gram package.

PDEA representatives said they seized P20.4 million worth of shabu from the package sent by a certain Juan Angel from Vancouver, Canada.

The operatives said that the package went through the same process as any other package subjected to security scanning, where PDEA-IADITG operatives based at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were on a routine inspection.

The suspect was immediately arrested as he took possession of the parcel containing three transparent plastic pouches.
