Civil society organizations led by the Asian People's Movement on Debt and Development staged a rally in front of the Department of Agriculture building in Quezon City today decrying rising inequality in the country exacerbated by flawed tax and trade policies, a mounting debt problem, and the catastrophic effects of climate change.
According to a recent Oxfam report, 2/3 of the world's wealth had gone to the world's 1 percent richest since the pandemic began in 2020, while prices of essential commodities have been rising every day, depriving more and more people of food.
