Filipino-Chinese artist Rebecca Chuaunsu might not be a household name yet but her current achievement as Best Actress at the recently concluded Wu Wei International Film Festival in Taipei, Taiwan for the movie "Her Locket" would prove her popularity and durability as an actress.

Rebecca played Jewel Ouyang, a demented octogenarian whose locker necklace helped her recover her memory in the most significant moments in her past.

During her acceptance speech at the awards ceremony held recently at the Westar Theater in Kimeding, Taipe, she thanked director Njel de Mesa for his contributions to her craft as an actress and her art in general.

Chuaunsu recalled her past citizenships.

"When I was a child and a teen-ager, I used to hold a Taiwan passport. Until the day before I got married, I waited for eleven years...for then President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr. to declare us naturalized Filipinos," shared Rebecca.

She continued: "So, tonight, it's very, very humbling and a privilege to accept the award in my home country, Taipei, Taiwan, and also in front of my kababayan (countrymen)."

It is a memorable victory for Rebecca who is a talent supplier for major film and television companies in the Philippines.

Of course, in her desire to place her wards on screen roles, she would also want to be part of any TV or film projects.

Chuaunsu is also one of the producers of "Her Locket" which she considered her "baby."

In one interview online, Rebecca intimated that during the course of the filming of "Her Locket," her husband was terminally ill.

She would buy him an injection for P500,000.00 and still watch over, aside from acting, the making of the film.

All of Rebecca's sacrifices have paid off when she won the plum and got to show the film in many parts of the world.

As a matter of fact, "Her Locket" was already shown in Morocco during the 2023 Festival International du Film Transsaharien de Zagora and at the Marche du Film of the Cannes International Film Festival in Cannes, France.

"I hope the film will be patronized by Filipinos and the general audience. I am also still making the rounds of internationsk distribution," she said.
