Visiting Communist Party of China Minister of International Department Liu Jianchao said that China can help the Philippines in pursuing solar energy.

China, the largest manufacturer of solar panels and hydropower in the world, wants to sell its excess solar power and hydro plants in what it termed as collaboration with the Philippines on renewable energy, avisiting Chinese official said on Sunday.

Agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and people-to-people ties are Beijing's four "key priority" areas for collaboration, said Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Liu, a former Chinese ambassador to Manila, is on a three-day visit to the Philippines.

"We are ready to work with the Philippines in energy sectors. We have the largest hydropower generation in the world," the Manila Times reported.

Liu said China also wants to help the Philippines in pursuing solar energy."We are the largest solar panel producer in the world," he said.

Huang Xilian, the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines, cited the grid power generation has started at China's first water surface photovoltaic project.

Huang said that the Xinghuo water surface photovoltaic demonstration site, the first project by China National Petroleum Corporation, has begun grid-connected power generation in Daqing, Heilongjiang province, in northeast China.

The project has an installed capacity of 18.73 megawatts and a construction area of 400,000 square meters. In addition, it reduces 22,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year and generates 27.5 million kilowatts of power.

Huang said, China's goals to establish green industrial structures and sustain low-carbon energy supply systems are achieved by the photovoltaic project.

"China's photovoltaic projects perfectly complement the country's push for solar energy, and other renewable energies, as solutions to a greener and better environment," he said.
"I'm glad that we continue to make waves in low-carbon energy supply. Looking forward to China meeting its green targets with these continued improvements," he added.
