The 47th Gawad Urian Awards night of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) held at the De La Salle University Manila was indeed a pro-people event.

It took an awards night and its encompassing objectives of how a film would serve the people what a trophy of a Gawad Urian meant.

In its criteria alone, MPP fuses form and content as a basis of a liberating movie-watching experience.

Many of the speakers, Manunuri members and winners themselves kept on mentioning society and movies are bedfellows.

Subliminally, showbiz people were happy when they won awards from the critics.

Two of them were Charlie Dizon and Romnick Sarmenta who were proclaimed Best Actress and Best Actor this year for "Third World Romance" and "About Us but Not About Us," respectively.

Dolly de Leon and Ronnie Lazaro were declared Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor for "Ang Duyan ng Magiting" and "The Gospel of the Beast," respectively.

"Iti Mapukpukaw" won Best Picture while Dwein Ruedas Baltazar got the Best Direction nod from the critics group.

Here are the rest of the 2024 Gawad Urian winners:
