SAN NARCISO, Quezon – WANTING to educate the public on the importance of caves and their resources, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Catanauan, Quezon recently conducted a community education and public awareness (CEPA) and protection of cave resources talk in this town.

The one-day activity was organized to address complaints by barangay officials in San Narciso of bat poaching inside the caves.

The incident was brought up by the barangay officials during a cave reconnaissance survey conducted by CENRO Catanauan's technical personnel on July 8-9, 2021.

That prompted CENRO to conduct "Dalaw Turo" with the goal of educating the residents on cave formation science as well as the resources (flora and fauna) found and inhabiting therein.

The one-day activity served as a channel for the community's concerns about cave management in their area.

Furthermore, the participants gained a better understanding of which conservation strategies should be used without compromising the cave's natural state.
