The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 8, in collaboration with the City Government of Tacloban, observed the Araw ng mga Kasambahay on January 18, 2025, at the 3rd CCDLAO Function Hall, City Hall, Tacloban City.
The event, which recognized the contributions of household helpers, brought together 52 officials from Tacloban's various barangays, 7 representatives from the LGU, and 7 from DOLE for a half-day advocacy drive focusing on their critical roles in the implementation of RA 10361, also known as the Batas Kasambahay. Throughout the event, there were orientations, an open forum, and rewards to show appreciation to attendees.
To ensure that the rights and welfare of kasambahays are safeguarded, promoted, and upheld in the community, the orientations were designed to provide barangay authorities with the resources they need to increase their awareness and level of engagement.
This event served as a reminder of how important kasambahays are to the efficient operation of households nationwide. In addition to acknowledging their efforts, the community promoted a culture of compassion, gratitude, and respect by celebrating them on Araw ng mga Kasambahay.
As the celebration neared its close, participants pledged to take action and set an example in their own barangays, demonstrating their strong commitment to supporting the law's proper implementation.
They recognized that to guarantee the rights and well-being of kasambahays are supported and maintained in the community, it was critical to begin at the local level.
