Cebuano Filmmaker Kenneth Dagatan Takes 2 at Korea’s BIFAN NAFF

Kenneth Dagatan who? Kenneth Dagatan in the vast seas of enterprising, intelligent and no-nonsense contemporary filmmakers.

Kenneth Dagatan of Cebu who now based himself in the imperial Manila to easily access the thick of things in moviemaking.

At the moment, Kenneth is making waves in the international film circuits with his genre-stimulated content creation.

After completing a unique film project called "In My Mother's Skin" which was launched at the 2020 "It Project" of the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) in Bucheon City, South Korea, Kenneth is again chosen among the lucky twenty-three selections of this year's "It Project."

Kenneth's work-in-progress entry, "Molder" was a standout in its presentation of the synopsis and the sequence treatment which were two of the requirements to enter the contest.

By merely being selected as one of the privileged few from among hundreds of submissions, Kenneth's screen development piece will enjoy the process of pitching to international film producers, investors, marketers and distributors in the whole wide world.

It will also be considered as an entry to win big cash prizes and technical support from production companies.

Kenneth and his producers Bradley Liew, Stefano Centini and Huang Junxiang of Epicmedia Productions, Inc., Volos Filmx Italia and Dropkick, respectively, will face up with prospective movie entrepreneurs to present their product.


Given The Chance

Meanwhile, Kenneth earned his first crack at directorship in the short film "Sanctissima" for the 11th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

He was also given the chance to direct the horror flick "Ma" for an ABS-CBN livestreaming platform which was a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kenneth was also involved in the production of Mikhail Red's "Block Z" for Star Cinema also during the world health emergency and found it conducive for filmmaking amidst hardline safety working protocols.
