ROXAS CITY —The province of Capiz, under the dynamic leadership of Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, is set to dazzle locals and visitors alike with the much-awaited Capiztahan 2024, scheduled from April 11 to May 1 this year. This grand celebration promises a fusion of tradition, festivity, and gastronomic delights, marking a significant highlight on the province's calendar.

The festivities will coincide with the commemoration of the 123rd founding anniversary of the civil government of Capiz and the 76th death anniversary of the esteemed President Manuel Roxas, after whom the capital city, Roxas City, is named.

Atty. Luvim Amores, the province's information officer, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming Capiztahan, emphasizing the province's rich culinary heritage. Capiztahan, known for its bountiful seafood offerings, boasts a delectable array of dishes featuring locally-sourced crabs, prawns, shrimp, oysters, greenshells, fish, and more, promising a feast for the senses for seafood aficionados.

Star-Studded, Too

Adding star power to the festivities, several TV personalities are slated to grace the event, including the likes of Ivana Alawi, Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, Nik Makino, Zavk Tabudlo, among others. Their presence is expected to elevate the excitement and entertainment quotient of Capiztahan 2024.

A diverse range of activities is lined up throughout the celebration, catering to various interests and age groups. Highlights include the Maragtas sang Capisnon and Saot Capiz Costume Exhibits, offering a glimpse into the province's vibrant cultural heritage. Food enthusiasts can indulge in the Surambaw Food Fest, while adrenaline junkies can partake in the Plantanan: Circuit Race and DYVR Baroto Race.

In honor of President Roxas, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held as part of the commemorations, followed by a spectacular fireworks display lighting up the Roxas City skyline. Music aficionados can revel in the Bugal sang Capiz Singing Competition, showcasing local talents and musical prowess.

Other exciting activities include the Maragtas International Derby, Capiztahan Unity Fun Ride, Bakbakan Sa Capiztahan 2024 Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts Tournament, and the Hangaway Kag Lin-ay sang Capiz Talent Competition, offering a platform for emerging talents to shine.

As a fitting culmination to the festivities, the traditional Santacruzan procession on May 1 will feature the daughter of Jamindan Mayor Mac Valdemar as the reigning reyna, adding a touch of regal elegance to the grand finale.


Capiztahan 2024 promises to be an unforgettable celebration, blending culture, heritage, and culinary delights in a spectacle that showcases the vibrant spirit of the Capiznon people.
