WITH just 200,000 shy of Manila’s population, Caloocan City hinted at having its own police district, says local police chief Col. Ruben Lacuesta.

According to Lacuesta, the city government is expecting a favorable response from the National Police Commission (Napolcom) following an endorsement from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

“The PNP is only waiting for the favorable response from Napolcom,” said Lacuesta about the creation of the Caloocan Police District, adding that the proposal once approved would mark a significant step for Caloocan which would effectively boost law enforcement with the expected deployment of 3,000 police personnel.

Under the present setup, Caloocan City remains part of the Northern Police District (NPD) alongside Valenzuela, Malabon, and Navotas.

In anticipation of the favorable response from Napolcom, the city government started facilitating the construction of modern four-story and three-story buildings for the police and fire headquarters, respectively.

By March this year, the city government hinted at tearing down the existing police station.
