ANGONO, Rizal – After delays triggered by the pandemic, the local government is finally expecting the completion of an ambitious project embarking on the construction of an industrial park in Barangay Kalayaan.
According to Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon, construction of the Light Industrial Park for Angono Dream (LIPAD) is already in full swing, even as she assured the local government would still maintain its position prohibiting destructive industries from coming in.
“The structures will be completed maybe in two years. We are asking for help from the provincial government and national government. We can’t do it alone,” Calderon said in an interview with local newsmen.
Calderon said the 60-hectare LIPAD commercial hub, which was designed similar to the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, is seen to generate not just revenue but also seen to provide more employment to her constituents.
“Our town will boom economically and, of course, this will provide more income to the local government,” she said.
“Secondly, this will generate more jobs, especially to our youth who travel to other places to look for a job,” the local chief executive added, who also hinted at transferring the municipal hall on a local government-owned parcel near the lakeshore.
