Six individuals were killed, while four others sustained severe injuries. The tricycle with 10 on board driven by James Castila maneuvered to the opposite lane to avoid the early warning device of a parked damaged backhoe.

San Policarpo area, upon reaching the mentioned location of the incident, the Rusi Chariot made a left maneuver towards the opposite lane and failed to notice the early warning device placed near a parked damaged backhoe. Subsequently, the Rusi Chariot swiftly veered to the left, causing passengers to fall in different directions, resulting in injuries. They were promptly taken to the Calbayog District Hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the CIBL Bus, identified as Rowan Gino, aged 46, and residing at Road 4 Tinga Labac, Batangas City, was taken to the Calbayog CPS for proper disposition.

Adding to the city's woes, the joyful spirit of Christmas was shattered when Jhun Casimero, an employee of the City Veterinary Office working as a dog catcher, fell victim to a fatal shooting incident. The assailant's motive remains a mystery, leaving the city in shock and grief. Daniel Romano Jr. also suffered gunshot wounds and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital, further deepening the city's sense of insecurity.

As if fate had turned against Calbayog, a collision involving a passenger bus and a truck shook Barangay Nabang in the early hours of December 25th. The drivers, Dennis Antonio of the Wing Van Isuzu Ten Wheel truck and Segundo Dayug of the Silver Star Bus, endured injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Initial reports suggest the truck veered into the opposite lane, causing a collision that left both vehicles severely damaged.
