After a month-long hiatus, train trips between Calamba City, Laguna to Lucena City, Quezon have once again resumed.

Starting July 14, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) once again fielded two one-way trips, one from Lucena City to Calamba City in the morning and a return trip to Lucena City in the afternoon.

In a statement, PNR management said the resumption of the Calamba-Lucena trips follows the directive of the administration of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. to ensure safe and efficient services for PNR commuters.

To recall, the Calamba-Lucena services were suspended last June 17 due to "major repairs" on the trainset used for the route.

Trips between the two cities, which were started in 2022, had also been suspended a few times due to problems on the PNR's tracks and equipment.

Aside from the Calamba-Lucena route, PNR also currently operates trips from Naga City, Camarines Sur to Sipocot, Camarines Sur and Legazpi City, Albay.

PNR had earlier said it is undertaking major repair works along its provincial line as part of efforts to revive trips between Laguna and Quezon provinces and the Bicol region.
