Due to China's Long March 7 rocket launch, the country's aviation regulator has advised for possible discarded debris drops
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has closed several navigation routes on Wednesday night after China launched a rocket which would pose a clear and present danger to air travel.
The aviation regulator said it had issued Notice-to-Airmen (NOTAM) which warned of possible debris drops from the rocket launch.
China's Long March 7 rocket took off at 9:22 p.m. (Philippine time) from Wenchang Space Launch Center in Wenchang, Hainan, China.
CAAP said, "though the debris from the rocket launch will unlikely fall on inhabited land, it may still pose danger to aircraft and seacraft."
It added that the NOTAM's area of concern included identified drop zones identified by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSa) which are approximately 65 to 79 kilometers from Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal).
Prior to the launch, a government alert had been relayed to concerned government agencies to take precautionary measures.
