The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has declared its preparedness to handle the expected increase in the number of passengers during this holiday season.

The CAAP said it is committed to ensuring safe, efficient, and comfortable travel experiences at the 44 airports under its jurisdiction.

The aviation regulator has ensured that its Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) systems are fully prepared to be operational.

It added that comprehensive contingency measures have also been put in place to address potential flight disruptions and ensure that operations run smoothly despite the expected increase in passengers.

CAAP is working closely with airlines and government agencies to maintain smooth airport operations and guarantee passenger satisfaction during their holiday travel with Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024, taking place from December 20, 2024 to January 3, 2025.

“CAAP recognizes the importance of a stress-free travel experience during the holiday season. By ensuring the reliability of our systems and the readiness of our facilities, we aim to deliver smooth and safe journeys for all passengers,” said CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

On the other hand, budget carrier AirAsia Philippines expressed its readiness to accommodate over 300,000 passengers traveling during the busy Christmas to New Yeaŕ period, from December 16, 2024, to January 6, 2025.

As of today, the World's Best Low-Cost Airline reports a load factor exceeding 80 percent, anticipating a significant surge in booking as Filipinos make last-minute plans to reunite with loved ones for the holidays.

As a "guest-obsessed" airline, AirAsia said it has has reactivated its "Always READY sa Pasko't Bagong Taon" initiative, while strategically optimizing the working schedules of its essential staff to ensure smooth operations during this busy season.

Ground personnel manning the check-in counters were augmented with "on-standby" staff while customer happiness desks were made easily accessible at key hubs to efficiently assist guests on their various travel requirements and inquiries through the Ask Bo feature on AirAsia MOVE app.

"We expect a significant surge in guest volume this week as many of our kababayans are making last-minute bookings on their holiday plans. While we recognize the excitement that comes with finalizing travel arrangement, we encourage our guests to book flights early as ticket fares increase closer to the travel date. This time is also a good opportunity to secure your return flights in advance for after the holidays as flights will fill up quickly after Christmas," AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs head Steve Dailisan said.
