The League of Municipalities of the Philippines’ Bulacan chapter is the first political group of public officials to announce support for a prospective presidential candidate after it endorsed presidential daughter Sara Duterte as its candidate in next year’s polls.
THROUGH the Inday Sara Duterte Ako-Volunteer Support Group (ISDA), the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Bulacan has publicly express its solid support to Mayor Inday Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio should she ever consider running in the 2022 elections.
The specially convened meeting was attended by more than 20 municipal mayors of Bulacan on Wednesday at St. Agatha Resort & Country Club, where they discussed matters about the current pandemic and other prevailing issues on their province.
In a separate but short portion of the meeting, the group talked about their united commitment to the possibility of a “Daugtherte” presidency in 2022.
The event was presided over by Guiguinto Mayor Ambrosio Cruz Jr., who was the association’s chapter president, and they were joined by senior officials of ISDA.
“The reason why we are expressing our support to Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio [is] because she is the only qualified candidate to run as President,” said Mayor Cruz.
“Kulang ang 6 years para sa mapaunlad mo ang isang bansa, look at Singapore, look at China, ilang dekada inabot ng isang pamumuno para umangat sila. Now, what we need is yung may magpapatuloy ng lahat ng nasimulan ni President Duterte; at yan walang iba kung’di si Mayor Sara,” he added.
(6 years is not enough to make a country grow, look at Singapore, look at China, it took their leadership more than a decade to become well-off. Now, what we need is a leader who can continue what President Duterte have started; only Mayor Sara can do this.)
To date, the Bulacan LMP is the first political alignment of public officials to openly announce support for a prospective presidential candidate in the upcoming elections next year.
It similarly is the first acknowledgement of a group of incumbent public officials endorsing the next chief executive.
Month- long celebration
In celebration of Mayor Sara’s birthday on May 31, the ISDA group has been continuously organizing several outreach activities this month for thousands of Filipinos.
Among the events they are currently organizing in various provinces and cities include feeding programs, relief operations, free public transport, medical missions, tree planting, coastal and underwater cleanup among others.
However, despite personally recognizing and thanking the group in March for their support and activities, and despite leading pre-election polls, Mayor Sara still insist that she is not interested to run for the presidency in 2022. (JT)
