BSP warns vs con artists using officials’ names

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) clariflied that its personnel and officials, will never request or solicit donations of any kind on behalf of any organization.

THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued a warning Tuesday (August 17) concerning scammers allegedly using the names of its personnel and staff to solicit money from unsuspecting victims.

“Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) personnel and officials, in the performance of their official functions, will never request or solicit donations of any kind on behalf of any organization,” the central bank said in its warning.

“To protect against fraudulent activities, the BSP asks the public to remain vigilant and refrain from providing any personal or financial information and sending money to unverified or suspicious sources,” it added.

The public is urged to report persons suspected to be unlawfully representing BSP to its Communications Office (communicationoffice@bsp.gov.ph; (02) 8811-1277 local 3025/2602/2032) or to the proper authorities.
