THE Department of Education (DepEd) started the 2021 Brigada Eskwela on August 3 with the theme “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan.” The project will last until Sept. 30.
The Brigada Eskwela is the National Schools Maintenance Month with focus on collaboration and strengthening partnership engagements that complements DepEd efforts to implement the Basic Education - Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP). Tagum City hosted the national kick-off program.
Because of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional Brigada Eskwela activities such as cleaning, painting and repainting and doing minor repairs in schools and classrooms will not happen this year, as in the previous year.
However, physical cleaning and disinfection may be allowed for two weeks before the opening of the class, depending on the prevailing risk classification and community quarantine guidelines.
In Tayabas West Central School III, Principal Dennis Labita said that the school is preparing the BE-LCP to ensure the delivery of quality basic education amid Covid-19.
“The facilities of the school will be prepared for the picking up and returning of self-learning modules. Doing Brigada Eskwela even if we are in the middle of the crisis simply means that the community unites for the sake of the future of our young people,” Labita said.
Brigada Eskwela is indeed about the spirit of community cooperation and volunteerism which must be pursued.
