Sammy Acaylar led Imus-ITP taps comebacking Taiwan import Bryan Bagunas for Spiker’s Turf.
Southeast Asian silver medalist Brian Bagunas is set to play at home court again in the 2023 Spikers’ Turf Conference next month. The 6-foot-5 stalwart signed with the AJAA Spikers Imus-Ivy Tuazon Photography and will play alongside Louie Ramirez, Kim Malabunga, Hero Austria, and Ish Polvorosa.
Bagunas is currently wrapping up his campaign as an import of Taichung LianZhuang WinStreak in the Top Volleyball League in Taiwan.
“We are excited to have one of the best players in the country to play for our team,” Timothy Ngo, team manager of the Imus AJAA Spikers, said of the national team veteran Bagunas.
His last stint in the Spikers’ Turf was in 2018 when he bagged the Most Valuable Player Award. In 2019, he then went on and brought his talents overseas when he played for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler in Japan's V.League for three seasons before moving to Taiwan last year.
The ace spiker expressed his excitement in coming back to the Philippines to play.

Bagunas, who is expected to arrive in Manila either in the second or third week of March.
Currently at the top of the standings with a 2-0 record, Imus-ITP is looking to dominate the conference with the addition of Bagunas. The Spikers’s Turf Open Conference is currently ongoing with the elimination round ending on March 19, while the semifinals will begin on March 22.
This news just came days after the announcement of the 19-man national team training pool for the biennial meet in May in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Among the invitees are Marck Espejo, Jau Umandal, JP Bugaoan, Manuel Sumanguid III as well as Ish Polvorosa and Kim Malabunga and Kim Dayandante.
