BOTOLAN, Zambales — Citing the support given by some senators and congressmen, Zambales 2nd District Rep. Doris "Bing" Maniquiz announced recently a series of development initiatives to achieve progress in this town.
During her gift-giving and Christmas party held at the Botolan People's Plaza on Christmas day, Maniquiz said the town will finally have its own sports complex that will rise in Barangay Carael.
In a speech before hundreds of residents here, the lawmaker said the Botolan Sports Complex will feature a basketball court, a volleyball court, a track and field oval, and football and baseball fields.
"The construction of our sports complex will start either in January or February next year. The Department of Public Works and Highways will soon begin the bidding," she said.
According to Maniquiz, House Speaker Martin Romualdez and his wife, Rep. Yedda Marie of the Tingog Party List, helped fund the construction of the sports complex by donating P40 million in addition to the P20 million that the Zambales solon allocated for the project.
Maniquiz also revealed that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go gave P30 million to help finish and improve the Kainomayan Primary Hospital.
"Similarly, our Polytechnic College of Botolan will soon be completed, and it will cost P70 million in total. It will now have an audiovisual room, so there will be quality education here," she said.
Also part of the major projects in the Botolan is the construction of 10 classrooms at the Loob-Bunga High School in the Loob-Bunga ressetlement area, Maniquiz shared.
"All of these development projects are possible because of the help of our senators and the Tingog Party List," she said.
Maniquiz also stressed her partnership with Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr., who she said is "very supportive" of her projects in the province's second district.
"Getting funds from senators and the national government is easy because they know that Gov. Ebdane and I are allies and that they respect him very much," the solon said.
And despite not supporting Sen. Jinggoy Estrada in the last elections, Maniquiz said the senator continued to support her by giving a P10 million fund recently for aid for displaced and disadvantaged workers under her Tupad program.
Maniquiz has also been distributing education assistance in the province under the "Programang Kalingang Nanay Bing at Alagang Tingog", which has 20,000 beneficiaries in the 10 towns in the second district of the province.
Apart from this, the Zambales lawmaker has been providing medical and burial assistance to her constituents, especially the senior citizens.
