What a way to show one's appreciation to someone who had contributed a lot to one's career enhancement.

As J.D. Salinger in the novel "The Catcher in the Rye" would summarily put it: "You don't just forget a dead man especially if he was a good person compared to the living who are bad and all."

At limited funeral wake vigils accorded to popular comics strip creator, writer and director Carlo J. Caparas at the Golden Haven in Las Pinas City recently, one of the regular mourners was Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr.

Bong had to shuttle back and forth from Las Pinas to Manila to pay his last respects twice in a row to the man who gave much to him in the development of his career.

Even at the end, Bong would always remain a loyal friend and a supportive colleague to Carlo.

It must be remembered that Caparas was at Revilla"s beck and call particularly in the making of the actor's two film versions of "Ang Panday," Carlo's graphic novel.

The Ramon Revilla, Jr. series were both blockbusters.

According to writer and former Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino head Joe Lad Santos, Revilla saw to it that the funeral requirements for Carlo were fulfilled.

"Gano'n kamahal ni Bong si Carlo (That's how he loves the late director)," Joe La stressed.
