A bomb joke delayed a Cebu Pacific flight bound for Manila on Sunday after a passenger cracked a bomb joke while the plane was awaiting its schedule to depart at Davao International Airport, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said Monday.

A Davao to Manila flight of Cebu Pacific (CEB) was delayed for more than two hours after a bomb joke incident.

Davao aviation authorities has forced to deplane all of the passengers as part of security protocol to inspect all checked-in luggage and carry-on bags, while the aircraft was repositioned to a designated isolation bay.

According to CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio, a report reaching the CAAP main office in Manila that on Sunday at about 6:28 p.m., CEB flight 5J970, which was carrying 221 passengers, requested security assistance through Davao Control Tower over a bomb joke made by a passenger on board the flight.

The plane was scheduled to leave Davao at 6:45 p.m.

The CAAP said Davao International Airport Manager Rex Obcena reported that the passenger identified as Annabelle C. Macose, 59, of Pangasinan, was arrested by PNP Aviation Security Group who boarded the aircraft with some airline agents.

The suspect, the CAAP added, was subjected to investigation and was later turned over to the Sasa Police Station for custodial proceedings.

The aviation authorities said that after clearing the CEB aircraft and satisfactorily ensuring its safety and found nothing, flight 5J970 was allowed to depart to its destination at 9:11 p.m.

Davao International Airport was under the supervision of the country's aviation regulator.
