BoC-NAIA seizes P15-M shabu

GOVERNMENT operatives intercepted P15 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu at a warehouse in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Seized on Tuesday were two parcels which contained 2,300 grams of the illegal substance with street value of P15,640,000.

According to BoC-NAIA, the two shipments came from Malaysia where the illegal stuff was hidden in clothes.

"However, upon physical examination, the shipments were found to contain white crystalline substances concealed in clothes and cloths, which were subsequently tested and verified by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as methamphetamine hydrochloride otherwise known as shabu," the BoC-NAIA said.

One parcel declared as 'clothing shirt' was shipped by PSH Express SDN BHD of Pos Besar Shah Alam Persiarab Dato Menteri Sec. 14, Shah Alam, Malaysia which is consigned to a certain Edmar Blay of SJV 10 Blk 22 Lot, Brgy. Langgam, San Pedro, Laguna.

The other parcel declared as 'cloth' also came from the same source was consigned to Janete Acapulco of Sta. Clara Mcsor Site, Batangas.

The illegal drugs were immediately turned over to PDEA for case profiling and build up against persons responsible for possible prosecution for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165) in relation to Section 119 (Restricted Importation) and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of Republic Act No. 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

On October 13, 2021, the Port of NAIA also turned over to PDEA P6.570 million worth of seized ecstasy party drugs, aside from other drugs seizures of the Port for year 2021.
