The Bureau of Customs (BOC), in cooperation with other law-enforcement agencies, has rolled out a new system aimed at digitizing data collection processes for travelers at the Philippines’ main ports.
The system, dubbed “E-Travel Customs” system, is a joint initiative of the BOC, the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
This collaborative initiative, first implemented at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), aims to optimize border control, enhance health surveillance, and facilitate economic data analysis.
"This collaborative initiative demonstrates our commitment to innovation and efficiency in customs management. The E-Travel Customs System will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security of our borders and fostering a seamless travel experience for all. We are dedicated to advancing our customs practices, aligning with global standards, and safeguarding the interests of our nation,” BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said.
The E-Travel Customs System is a unified digital data collection platform that aims to simplify the passenger experience at airports around the country.
Its key feature is the Electronic Customs Baggage and Currency Declaration interface, formerly part of the BOC's I-Declare System, introduced on June 29, 2022.
Travelers and crew members can now utilize a user-friendly and single web portal which integrates border control requirements, enhancing the overall passenger experience and enables the BOC to receive advance information for effective risk profiling.
The timely sharing of information with AMLC and BSP strengthens the nation's commitment to combat money laundering and ensure financial security.
