What is Bini and why is it taking the whole Philippines and many Filipino communities abroad (perhaps even other nationalities) by storm?

If you're a K-pop fanatic, you must be familiar with what Korean wave is, particularly girl groups who dress fancifully, dance gracefully and sing melodiously, then Bini is closer to your experience because they are packaged as a P-pop, the Philippine pop, a counterpart of K-pop.

Bini has been taking the country by storm as early and its popularity will be gauged widely this October when it mounts a grand concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

Bini was organized by ABS-CBN Head of Production Laurenti Dyogi in 2018 after the multimedia conglomerate held "Star Hunt: The Kapamilya Grand Audition" all throughout the country.

It was meant to discover young female talents who could, basically, sing, dress and dance, aping, including the way K-pop girl groups, like Momoland, PINK, NM1XX, etc.

According to Bini Fandom, the passers of the audition were 250 but it was trimmed down to nine then finally eight.

Officially, eight members were initially trained under dance and music experts from the Philippines but coaches from MU Doctor Academy from South Korea.

Look at what Bini has achieved in seven years.

Rigorous Training

It was a hard climb to the top.

Yet each of the eight girls — Stacey, Djoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Mikha and Sheena — had collectively and individually spent rigorous training days and nights honing their craft until they were ready for the big league.

Initially, Bini was exposed only to digital apps like X (the former Twitter), TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc. to exhibit their skills in singing and dancing.

At the moment, Bini has cut a number of singles in digital recording that started with its interpretation of Ryan Cayabyab's "Da Coconut Nut."

After seven long years including the challenges of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic era, Bini is ripe to show what it takes in a larger venue.

In October, Cebuanos and Cebuanas from Lapu-Lapu City and Boholanos and Boholanas from Tagbilaran City will be proud of their kababayans Maraiah Queen Arceta, simply called Aiah, and Nicolette Vergara, now publicly known as Colet.

The Big Dome is waiting to be filled up with hundreds of thousands of Bini fans to explore the so-called Biniverse.
