As the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) marks the onset of the wet season, the Department of Health (DoH) is ramping up its surveillance of influenza-like illnesses (ILI), anticipating an uptick in cases.

In response to this seasonal health challenge, BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corporation (DigiPlus), recently launched a medical mission in Rizal province.

The initiative focused on Barangay Sta. Cruz in Antipolo City, where 550 residents received free flu vaccinations.

These vaccinations are crucial in reducing the risk of severe complications, hospitalizations, and fatalities associated with influenza, particularly among individuals with compromised immune systems.

"Influenza, commonly known as the flu, poses significant health risks, and our vaccination programs complement the DoH's efforts to curb its spread and enhance community well-being," stated Andy Tsui, President of DigiPlus and Chairperson of BingoPlus Foundation.

Additionally, ArenaPlus, DigiPlus's 24/7 sports betting app, extended support to SK Sta. Cruz Palarong Pambarangay by sponsoring the launch of its basketball league in the same barangay.

These initiatives are part of BingoPlus Foundation's advocacy program, "Bingo sa Kalusugan," aimed at promoting accessible healthcare and fostering community engagement through sports.
