Student-athletes who brought honor to Biñan City, Laguna at the recently-concluded Regional Athletic Association Meet (RAAM) were feted by the city government at a ceremony held at the Alonte Sports Arena Monday, April 29.
Biñan City Mayor Arman Dimaguila and Councilor Dada Reyes, chairperson of the Sangguniang Panglungsod Committee on Education, led the awarding of cash incentives and medals to the student-athletes who bagged medals at the RAAM.
Also honored during the event were their coaches, assistant coaches, committees and chaperones who guided and encouraged these athletes to victory.
Eighteen gold medalists received P10,000 in cash incentives, while 10 silver medalists received P5,000 and 11 bronze medalists received P3,000.
It should be recalled that Biñan City also served as host for the weeklong RAAM, which was held from April 7 to 13.
The school’s division office (SDO) of Biñan City ranked ninth among the 23 SDOs in Calabarzon who participated in the event, a "significant" improvement from the 2023 RAAM when it finished 14th, according to city officials.
Aside from the cash incentives, student-athletes who received gold medals are also assured of a place at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, to be held in Cebu this July.
