Rep. Alfred Delos Santos filed House Bill 4654 which opens positions for national athletes and coaches to work under the government and receive perks and benefits.

Rep. Alfred Delos Santos filed House Bill (HB) 4654 creating regular positions with matching relevant qualification and salary grades for national athletes and coaches.

“I am for forward-looking sports policies for our athletes and their coaches.” Delos Santos said.

HB 4654 creates a clear career path for national athletes and national coaches to hold regular plantilla positions in the government.

It provides P3,000 Priority Athlete Benefit monthly, and GSIS membership for their retirement.

Additionally, it enables athletes and coaches to continue working as brand representatives and endorsers while they serve in the government.

The annual general appropriations, which guarantee the salaries and benefits of our modern-day national heroes, will include the cash required to carry out the bill.

HB 4654 will promote the excellence in sports by securing the welfare of national athletes and coaches, as well as secure financial support for those who shall win international sports competitions that brings honor and prestige to the country.

Even if the athlete or coach does not work under the government, they may still receive basic and meal allowances under other programs of the government such as the National Sports Development Program, and the Priority Athletes Programs of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
