DepEd received desktop units, printers, projectors, wireless routers, and other equipment for Alternative Learning System (ALS) implementers and learners to be used for distance learning programs.

The Department of Education's (DepEd) remote education program is set to get a boost from ₱ 12 million in aid the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing for the scheme's implementation this coming school year.

DepEd earlier asked for gadget donations for distance learning.

The department also previously revealed that it has suffered an over P8-billion budget cut; the amount was realigned for the country’s Covid-19 response.

The USAID led by Acting Mission Director Sean Callahan has provided tools for alternative distance learning.

DepEd received desktop units, printers, projectors, wireless routers, and other equipment for Alternative Learning System (ALS) implementers and learners to be used for distance learning programs.

USAID Director Callahan turned over the units to DepEd ALS Assistant Secretary G.H. Ambat and Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal recently.

USAID donations will be given to E-Skwela Centers in Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Angeles, Legazpi, and Davao.

DepEd has postponed face-to-face classes until a vaccine for Covid-19 becomes available, in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said that once the school year opens on September 13, the delivery of lessons could be done through the use of online portal DepEd Commons, television, radio and learning modules and packets both in print and digital format.
