IN a move that would surely elicit a howl of protests and complaints from consumers, some 114 noche buena products have been removed by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) from its suggested retail price (SRP) list.
As a result, consumers lost 114 moderately priced product options, down 30% from the previous two years.
Among the items being watched are ham brands 17 from 33, 7 queso de bola brands from 12, 5 five-cheese brands from 15, tomato sauce 3 from 16, and zero fruit cocktail brands from 12.
Consumers expressed their dissatisfaction with the removal of certain brands off the list.
To recall, the DTI announced a month ago that noche buena goods prices would not rise. The department will keep a careful eye on the costs of SRP products even as it failed to explain why some brands were left from the list.
